OUR INITIATIVES

Community-Centered Research:

We facilitate research that reflects the lived experiences of our communities, particularly focusing on the impacts of oppressive social policies and legislative actions. This research is rooted in participatory action methods, ensuring that communities are not only the subjects of study but also the creators of knowledge.

Policy Advocacy:

We advocate for policies that address climate change, ecological degradation and altering our material conditions while promoting gender and racial equity.

Healing and Wellness Programs:

Our Doula Program is central to our commitment to healing. We provide birth, postpartum, and reproductive justice support to families, ensuring that the full spectrum of care, from pregnancy to parenting, is accessible, affirming, and rooted in community-centered care. Our doulas are trained in both the medical and emotional needs of Black queer families, focusing on nurturing birthing justice and reducing maternal and infant mortality rates within these communities. This initiative includes:

  • Offering prenatal care, birthing support, and postpartum care for queer Black families.

  • Facilitating healing circles and community-based support networks to provide emotional and spiritual care.

  • Supporting reproductive justice, advocating for the rights of queer and trans people to have access to dignified, respectful care during pregnancy, birth, and parenting.

Education and Capacity Building:

We host workshops, seminars, and leadership development programs focused on building capacity within Black queer communities to lead social justice campaigns. We will also create accessible educational content that combines theory with practical tools for activism and community-building.
